Why Network Performance Matters for Your VPS

A stable connection, low latency, and optimized routing are just as critical as raw CPU power for a successful deployment.

1. What is Latency (Ping)?

Latency is the time it takes for data to travel from your client to the server and back (Round-Trip Time). For game servers, voice communications, and financial trading apps, keeping latency under 30ms is critical for real-time responsiveness.

2. Port Speed vs. Global Bandwidth

A 10 Gbps or 20 Gbps uplink port ensures your VPS can burst traffic without bottlenecking. Combined with our massive 100 Gbps global backbone peering, VoxiHost handles heavy file transfers, web scraping, and media streaming effortlessly.

3. The Importance of Routing (Traceroute)

Traceroute maps the exact network route packets take hop-by-hop. Through direct BGP peering with major networks and transit providers like Hurricane Electric, Hetzner, and Core-Backbone, we minimize hops, bypass congested paths, and ensure packets take the shortest road possible.

4. Diagnosing Connection Issues (MTR)

My Traceroute (MTR) continuously polls routers to detect packet loss and latency fluctuations. If your visitors experience slow load times, running an MTR diagnostic helps isolate if the issue lies with their ISP or a specific transit provider.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our network diagnostics, test files, and routing.

A Looking Glass is a network diagnostic tool that allows you to inspect routing, latency (ping), and connectivity directly from VoxiHost's infrastructure to your own IP address or any target server on the internet. It helps isolate whether a network issue is localized to your provider or exists on a broader transit route.
We provide test files (100MB, 1GB, and 10GB) for download directly from our nodes. These files consist of zero-byte streams generated on-the-fly by the server. This lets you measure the raw throughput of your connection to VoxiHost's network without any disk I/O bottlenecks skewing the results.
Ping sends test packets to check if a target is reachable and measures the Round-Trip Time (RTT). Traceroute lists every network hop (router) that packets pass through to reach the destination. MTR (My Traceroute) combines both, running continuously to show packet loss and latency statistics for each router along the way.
An IPv6 test will fail if the destination domain does not have an active AAAA DNS record or if the destination device is not configured to accept IPv6 connections. Additionally, ensure the selected VoxiHost source node supports IPv6 connectivity to your target network.
The Latency Test runs entirely in your browser and measures the round-trip time from your device to the VoxiHost node. The Diagnostics tab (Ping, Traceroute, MTR, DNS) works in reverse: commands are executed directly from the node itself toward any target you specify. This is useful for checking routing paths and packet loss from the server's perspective, rather than your own ISP.
